This past Saturday, the Boston Breakers tallied a 3-1 victory over the Washington Freedom while sporting their pink kits and playing host to their Project Pink game. The crowd of over four thousand fans showed up to cheer the Breakers on to victory and to show their support of PUMA’s Project Pink and breast cancer awareness. Following the game, the Breakers auctioned off the pink jerseys and raised over $7,000 which was donated to Boston’s chapter of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
Boston Breakers forward Lauren Cheney commented on the significance of playing in the pink jerseys: “My grandma had breast cancer and I know a lot of people that have been affected. To be playing for this cause and to be auctioning off these jerseys, it was fun, a good time and it made me want to work a little bit harder.”
Make sure to check out the up coming Project Pink Games in your area. Come stop by to show your support- first 3,000 fans into each game will receive a pink PUMA bandana!
